Animated title credits and interstitials for a new documentary about A Tribe Called Quest directed by Michael Rapaport. It premiered at the 2011 Sundance festival and won the audience choice at the Los Angeles Film Festival. Sony Picture Classics theatrically released the film nationwide, Summer 2011.
The animation is made of thousands of photographs assembled as layered stop-motions. A short documentary about James Blagden's and Phillip Niemeyer's process will accompany the DVD release, until then, here's some snapshots:
